Job Title
Accounting Assistant

Summary
Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Verifies and posts details of bank transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
  • Prepares invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records and reviews for accuracy.
  • Reconciles bank statements.
  • Monitors loans and accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
  • Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.
  • Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
  • Reviews computer printouts against manually kept ledgers and makes corrections.
  • Performs other clerical tasks such as filing, typing, scanning, indexing and operating other office machines.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily to include great attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and multi-task; customer service oriented with strong communication skills – written and oral; ability to work in a team environment, cross-train and perform research. Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or equivalent and 2+ years banking experience.   Prefer a bachelor’s degree with 3+ years banking experience in accounting and deposit operations.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job to include near and far vision, use of arms, hands and fingers, sitting for long periods of time, some standing, bending, stretching and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
